Mocha Arthouse: Finding My Local
Hangout Spot!
It’s week 1 of being back in Delhi and its as hectic, chaotic and
bustling as I remember it to be. After days of trying to
adjust to the time difference, climate, pollution and traffic and
running around to setup the house for furry baby Mishka and me
I needed a breather. What better way to adjust and fit right in
than to start exploring your neighborhood joints.
My first outing was to a popular local hangout for the young and old alike, DLF Promenade mall, one of the biggest malls featuring several national and international brands, restaurants and bars and one of the nicer movie theaters in the city. Beat the heat or boredom by splurging or just people watching.
Neatly tucked in a corner with an indoor and outdoor seating is Mocha Arthouse, a cafe chain with 14 outlets in 12 cities. Open and airy during the day and candlelit at night, it makes a great transition from a cafe to a bar with the setting sun. Its cushy seating is perfect to sink into after a long day and watch some TV on the projected screen, or get comfy and catch up with your friends or even cozy up with your date or maybe you just want to avoid people and bury your face in a book. Their friendly and respectful staff will try to accommodate you and your reasonable whims.
Due to being relatively new to the social scene in Delhi, I may not be well versed with the current prices but I think their menu is reasonably priced. With their decent drinks and appetizer options, you can easily spend a couple of hours. If you like sugar and desserts as much as I do, try their shakes or if you are ambitious go for the Chocolate Avalanche that consists of chocolate ice cream, brownies, chocolate truffle, white chocolate sauce, dark chocolate sauce, chocolate mouse and moose ice cream for that much needed sugar rush!
