Eight wonderful years of exploring, growing, learning, falling and failing and getting right back up, in this amazing city that never sleeps and doesn’t let you sleep either. This city is a true teacher of all things life. Its people from the most diverse backgrounds and experiences all muddled into one tiny little island is an entire world of its own. Moving away from here is going to be bitter-sweet, more bitter than sweet I am beginning to feel.
The last few weeks flew by once I made the decision to move back to New Delhi. But now that I am left with a few days, it is beginning to sink in and I am attempting to pack everything New York into a few days. This has been my last few days:
Times Square:
For a city that never sleeps, Times Square is the epicenter. For tourists, locals and just passersby, Times Square is a mandatory pitstop. The signature red steps have been a refuge for my aching feet on several evenings, or just a good distraction from overthinking. The people watching game is strong here!

All the Way to Broadway:
I really couldn’t have left New York without seeing a Broadway show. Super super glad my last show happened to be one of my all-time favorite fairytales. A childhood tale actualized into a beautiful Broadway musical. Anastasia was such a fitting adaptation to watch at a time when I am trying to figure out my life’s why, what, who.

Pitcher me Please:
Family that drinks together…well that’s just bound to be a fun night.
A neighborhood that never fails to disappoint is Hell’s Kitchen, representing some great Mexican and Thai joints. Check out Rancho Tequileria and its pitcher of classic margarita.
If nothing else, definitely pick up their motto:
Come y Bebe. (Eat and Drink)
Que la Vida es Breve. (That Life Is Short)

A Sugar Rush (with a little kick) Is Mandatory:
New York is famous for a lot of things but NY Cheesecake is a biggie and Junior’s is a place to get your sugar fix. A big recommendation would be the Guinness Chocolate Fudge Shake: Guinness Stoudt, Kahlua, Slice of Chocolate cake. There is an ungodly amount of sugar, but Just A Desi Girl has sugar issues. You definitely cannot finish it all by yourself, but if you can, then much respect to you!

The more I explore the more I realize I haven’t really covered New York despite the 8 of my formative years. But all in all, THANK YOU, New York, you have been a blessing, for I am who I am because of you.
Suggestions for what to explore next would be extremely appreciated!
